About JPNStudio
JPNStudio started as a single Instagram account dedicated to Japanese art and culture. What began as a passion project has grown into a community of over 1 million people who share a love of Japan's artistic and cultural heritage, from centuries-old woodblock prints to the creative movements shaping the country today.
Now, we're becoming something bigger: a media company built to be the internet's home for Japanese art, culture, and history.
What we do
Instagram will always be part of our story, but it isn't the whole story anymore. Through this website, we're building out longer-form articles and features that go deeper than a single post ever could: profiles of the artists and craftspeople carrying on traditional techniques, deep dives into pivotal moments in Japanese art history, and coverage of the contemporary creators reinterpreting that legacy for a new generation.
Why we're doing this
There's no shortage of information about Japanese art and culture scattered across the internet, but no single place pulling it together with real care and context. We want to be that place: rigorous enough for people who already love this subject, and accessible enough for people just discovering it.
Who's behind it
JPNStudio is run by a small, growing team of researchers, writers, and creatives who care as much about getting the history right as making it interesting to read. We work with contributors and collaborators around the world, including in Japan, to bring these stories to life.
Work with us
JPNStudio partners with brands for paid promotion and sponsored content across our channels. If your brand aligns with Japanese art, culture, or craft, we'd love to hear from you at hello@jpnstudio2023.com. A media kit with our audience data and past collaborations is available on request.
